Obama wants the US troops pulled from Iraq by the end of August 2010. Even though the progress is very slow, Iraq has gained a lot more freedom and indipendance since after the war in 2003. Obama would like to end the unpopular Iraq war within the first 16 months that he'll be 'ruling'. However, at least 35,000 of his troops will STAY in Iraq after the majority of the troops are withdrawn, so that Obama's party won't be pushed back away from Iraq. More then 4,250 US military member have died since the war started in March 2003.
